Master Thesis — Participants Wanted
I am developing a low-cost assistive communication prototype for people with motor impairments who rely on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
The system combines eye gaze, head movements, and joystick input to control a communication interface for composing messages. Instead of relying on a single input method, the different signals are combined using probabilistic sensor fusion, allowing the system to account for the reliability of each input and potentially provide more robust interaction.
The prototype uses camera-based computer vision for gaze and head-pose estimation together with a custom joystick interface. My thesis focuses on developing this multimodal interaction approach and experimentally evaluating its performance.
I am currently looking for participants with motor impairments, particularly people with experience using AAC systems, to test and evaluate the prototype. If you are interested in participating or would simply like to learn more about the project:
